DAY 1: Begin your journey in Vigo
You will be welcomed by your friendly tour guide at Dublin Airport before flying to Santiago de Compostela, once arriving you will be transferred to our luxury hotel where you will have time to explore the beautiful sights of Vigo, a gorgeous port city on the west coast of the Iberian peninsula.
DAY 2: Oia Vigo to Cabanas, 21km/6hr
After breakfast we will hop on the bus to the starting point of the amazing Camino walk where you will receive the first of your Camino stamps. The trail starts with stunning views of Vigo Bay and the Cies Islands as you make your way through beautiful tree-lined paths. Once you have completed the first leg of your journey you will be picked up to get bused back to the hotel to relax and recuperate before the next day.
DAY 3: Cabanas to Capela de Santa 23km/6.5hr
After a hearty breakfast to prepare you for the day we will return to Cabanas to continue the Camino walk toward Redondela. Once we arrive you will start on the next portion of the walk making your way down to the beautiful market town of Redondela. This is a great spot to grab a morning coffee and also in this rustic town stands a statue of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea writer Jules Verne who wrote about “The Bay of Vigo” in the novel. You will then continue to Arcade, a lovely fishing village famous for its oysters and is a good place for lunch before tackling the last few kilometres of the day. You will be finishing at the Santa Marta Chapel in the hamlet of Bertola, where you will be picked up and return to the hotel.
DAY 4: Santa Marta-Bertola to Caldas de Reis 26kms/7hr
Once you are finished breakfast you will travel back to the chapel in Santa Marta to restart your walk. travelling to the stunning cobbled streets of Pontevedra city seeing the Romanesque churches and the Pilgrim Virgin church, Virxe da Peregrina and more. Once we leave Pontevedra we will move away from the coast and into the incredible pine forests of Portugal having your Camino pilgrim passport stamped at churches and chapels along the way. When you reach Caldas de Reis which is famous for its hot springs, you will then be finished for the day and returned to the hotel.
DAY 5: Caldas de Reis to Padron 18km/5h
After arriving at Caldas de Reis from the hotel we will continue on to Padron. This will be the shortest walk of our tour giving you plenty of time to take in the beautiful various hamlets and villages along the way to get a coffee break and to get your pilgrim passport stamped as you walk through the lovely forest paths into Padron. Padron is home to Rosalia de Castro a famous illustrious poet and Camilo Jose Cela, Nobel Prize of Literature. Once you have completed your walk for the day you will be taken to Santiago de Compostela where we will be staying in our next luxury hotel for three nights.
DAY 6: Padron to Santiago de Compostela 25km/7hr
Today will be the last day of walking along the magnificent Camino pilgrimage and will be a day to remember as you move out of the beautiful forests into Santiago’s Old Town and reach the wonderful Obradoiro Square. The excitement and joy of all pilgrims is palpable. Walking into Obradoiro Square, you will finally reach Santiago Cathedral where the atmosphere of exhilaration and jubilation is something special, a memory that you will treasure forever. Enjoy and savour this moment, you have arrived and your pilgrim passports will be stamped one last time on this incredible journey.
DAY 7: Exploring Santiago de Compostela
After a restful night we will explore the historical Santiago de Compostela a destination of pilgrims for centuries and the capital of Galicia which is a city full of wonders. Our guide will take the group on a 2-hour walk of the city, the best way to discover its magnificent 9th-century UNESCO-listed Old Town. You can visit the New Town, wrapped around the historic old town and a short walk away where you will find many stores.
DAY 8: Our Journey Home
Today you will have the morning to explore the beautiful city of Santiago de Compostela one last time before departing Santiago Airport for your flight home to Ireland.
