Firstly I’d like to give you more of personal story about myself and how Saints was started My Background : My name is Louisa I’m currently 31years old I started hairdressing at the age of the age of 13. Hairdressing was always my passion and I think I’m extremely Lucky to know that it’s all I ever wanted to do. At 16 years old in 2008 in my school Summer holiday I went to England. My auntie was a lecture in a hairdressing college there so I did my Level one in Hairdressing and completely fell in love. I came back to Ireland but in December I went to England to pursue my hairdressing career. I told my dad I was going to finish my schooling but I got a apprenticeship in a salon instead. I spent 8 amazing years living and working all over the UK. I completed numerous courses with L’oreal, Wella, Matrix, Sassons, TIGI etc. I also competed in many competitions. I got to the regional finals in L’Oreal Colour Trophy 3 years in a row. The highlight was working in Voodou Liverpool’s number one salon the year before moving back to Ireland. In February 2016 At the age of 23 I decided to put everything I learnt into creating “Saints Colour Specialist & Beauty” Saints has gone from strength to strength, and supressed everything I have imagined. I met my Partner John who is from Tramore in 2018 and moved to Tramore. I commuted up and down the the ferns salon everyday but This February 2023 with a 6 month old baby and a 18 month old in tow I made the crazy decision and opened up my second Salon in Tramore, Co. Waterford. It’s been a whirlwind year with long hours and a lot of stress but I’m so proud of my second salon and it’s a dream come through to be able to go between the two salons. A Background of Saints : Within 4 months of opening Saints, Ferns. I was down to the last 5 hairdressers in Ireland for the Irish L’Oreal Colour Star Awards formally known as the young colourist of the year awards, but my dreams came true when I was picked for TIGI inspirational youth; after the selection process in London only 11 people are picked from salons throughout the UK & Ireland; with Ireland having only 2 places out of 11; this is my greatest achievement yet, and in September 2016 I travelled to London to be mentored by some of the best stylist & Colour technician’s in the world. Before putting On a show in front on 100's at Cafe du Paris in London. We then went onto win the best hair salon in the South East at The Irish hair & beauty awards 2016. We were also reached the top 10 salons at the Irish Wedding Award 2016. In 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and 2023 We got through to L’oreal Colour Trophy this is Ireland’s most prestigious hairdressing competing this year. In 2019 we also won Hair salon of the year at The South East Radio Awards and I after being nominated 3 years in a row I won Colour technician of the year at the Irish hair and beauty awards one of my biggest achievements to date. Last year I heavily invested in myself and my education. I’m so proud to say I am one of only 8% of Hairdressers in the UK and Ireland to hold this level of education. Why we should Win	I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for shortlist for employee of the year 2023, this means alot to me to show my hard work was recognised and appreciated I am humbled to have got this nomination, as 2023 has been a very tough year for me,and only for my job and team I would have never got threw it, I was undergoing ivf treatment and had 2 failed cycles and thankfully I got my nomination on Monday, and found out i was 5 weeks pregnant on Tuesday 🙌 so to say focus was my main mission for 2023 was an under statement, I joined cutting edge hair salon 2 years ago, as a full time stylist with 20 years experience, I previously worked for myself for 6 years which i got nominated with south east radio for hair salon of the year and thankfully got nominated last year with cutting edge hair salon also, so fingers crossed i will be third time lucky, my boss had asked me to come on board as a manger in 2023, as my experience in the industry as being an employee for 14 years by a well known salon of 40 years called Scissors Empire, and self employed for 6 years named Streetz Ahead, I had alot to bring to his business, we worked amazinly together and I generated a plan in place to boost revenue and build a team for the salon, my hard work and dedication for the hairdressing industry is inspiring as I have worked in the hair salon industry for a very long time and have being on alot of teams I knew what we had to do, I started with providing training for all members of staff and evaluated what stage they were at in there trade, covid was quiet tough as we were staring back to a salon of challenges due to clients not being able to get there hair done, in tbe middle of this i changed over to a new colour brand called alpharf, so between being busy sorting appointments for clients we were back to patch testing every client old a new, by doing this we were goin to be providing nothing but quality and high class colour and hair styles, with being a very experienced stylist I also knew it was so important to show my team how exciting our industry can be to boost their morale and confidence, I worked late nights after work to help provide extra training after there courses in the academy in dublin, to help making sure they fully understand all theory in order to put practical in place, I bring alot of excitement to my clients as my creativity keeps increasing at the same pace, in the middle of my plan ivf failed twice so I could either lie down or get back into what i love and clear my head which i did, I had put alot of hard work into my team by being supportive, reliable, inspiring and took a moment to realise, that what you give you will recieve, and thats what got me going again, I again reviewed where we were in my 12 month plan, and thankfully had reached all goals in 8months and profits were doubling, new clientele was happening and our salon name was being spoke about at a vbery high level, all the team are at the stage they are ready to do there masters next year, and have completed all courses to date, and due to all the suceess they have all got nominated for this year's event with bein voted salon team of the year and best salon of the year and one stylist in particular got nominated for 4 different awards, so to see the clients give there time to vote for us all, they truly value all the time and effort and family unit we have built for them to enjoy their experience in our salon proves it all I was humbled as my boss sat with me and said The team owes you alot of success for my razor sharp precision and industry knowledge that I have brought to his salon, he was forever grateful, that my commitment and contribution of time that I have given has being an essential part of how I have built the team, as my manager you have being my rock even when you're under immerse pressure and tough deadlines u tick all the boxes and with being a busy stylist and have built a fantastic team of 8, it's your mentoring and teaching skills and positive attitude has made our business a better place. If there was ever an award to giving after the year you have had personally, and to still get us where we needed to be is inspiring To hear these words from my boss and then to recieve this nomination, it just shows hard work and dedication does pay off and to be acknowledged for your work is truly humbling, so to recieve an award at the end of the night would be the print to my success 🙌 I thank you again for being shortlisted, keeping this successful event goin is beautiful to see all great work of all the people getting acknowledged and rewarded in our lovely industry

Noel has approximately 35 years’ experience in the barber trade and trained in his role in the traditional sense as an apprentice serving his time until qualified. Because of this old school training it was always a dream or vision perhaps to open an old school barbershop providing a professional quality of barbering in a relaxed comfortable surrounding hence The Cutthroat Club. The reasoning behind the name “The Cutthroat Club” is very simple – It arises from the vision mentioned above. An old school barber shop is very much a social club somewhere where you come to hang out, have the chats and some much-needed relief from day to day stresses. As the shop progressed in the past nine years the barbers and clients became friends and family and supported not just each other but we became very heavily involved in local and national charities and an avid supporter of local talent. We also because of this partnered with music promoters MCD, festival republic and lantern presents to provide dressing room production services backstage at all the major Irish music festivals . The barber shop has grown year on year , most recently with the addition of a fourth barber mainly due to the continued support of our clients, friends and families - one of our reasons for being heavily involved in local and national events is “ a pay it forward attitude “ and giving back to the community both locally, nationally and even internationally. We also have a barber academy running in conjunction with our shop teaching and mentoring current and upcoming barbers - who have successfully went on to have a very successful career in barbering . During this time i still kept my passion for up styling alive by doing my friends and family's hair. One day in work i felt like its now or never i need to take the plunge and try to peruse hairdressing career so i quit my job of 12 years . I went to college for 2 years and studied hairdressing as a mature student and during this time i was taken on by Inspire Hair and Beauty. This i have to say was the best thing that could have happened to me , since being apart of the team they have nurtured me and helped me grow my skills and confidence especially in up styling . I feel empowered since being taken on in such an environment and my ability and confidence has taken me to the moon and am the sole hair styling artist in the salon, and I take pride in every single up style that leaves my chair with a big smile on their faces. Firstly I’d like to give you more of personal story about myself and how Saints was started My name is Louisa I’m currently 31years old I started hairdressing at the age of the age of 13. Hairdressing was always my passion and I think I’m extremely Lucky to know that it’s all I ever wanted to do. At 16 years old in 2008 in my school Summer holiday I went to England. My auntie was a lecture in a hairdressing college there so I did my Level one in Hairdressing and completely fell in love. I came back to Ireland but in December I went to England to pursue my hairdressing career. I told my dad I was going to finish my schooling but I got a apprenticeship in a salon instead. I spent 8 amazing years living and working all over the UK. I worked with a salon called The White room and it was there my love for creative and Editorial began. Ray the owner of the salon introduces me to fashion work we completed numerous course and competed in many competitions. We got to the regional finals in L’Oreal Colour Trophy 3 years in a row. He put me forward to work with GHD and when working for them I got the bug to see what working at shows were and doing fashion editorial looks. In February 2016 At the age of 23 I decided to put everything I learnt into creating “Saints Colour Specialist & Beauty” Saints has gone from strength to strength, and supressed everything I have imagined. This February 2023 with a 6 month old baby and a 18 month old I made the crazy decision and opened up my second Salon in Tramore, Co. Waterford. It’s been a whirlwind year with long hours and a lot of stress but I’m so proud of my second salon and it’s a dream come through to be able to go between the two salons. Within 4 months of opening Saint Ferns I was down to the last 5 hairdressers in Ireland for the Irish L’Oreal Colour Star Awards formally known as the young colourist of the year awards, but my dreams came true when I was picked for TIGI inspirational youth; after the selection process in London only 11 people are picked from salons throughout the UK & Ireland; with Ireland having only 2 places out of 11; this is my greatest achievement yet, and in September 2016 I travelled to London to be mentored by some of the best stylist & Colour technician’s in the world. We learnt the art of putting a shoot together. How to pick our models , how to do a mood board. pick the clothes etc Before putting On a show in front on 100's at Cafe du Paris in London. Since then we at Saints have been unbelievably lucky to have got through some amazing competitions such The L'oreal Colour Trophy Men's images awards 2017 where we made it to the semi finals. We also made it the the final of The Irish wedding awards 2017. And had 4 nominations at The Irish Hair & Beauty Awards 2017. In 2018 we got through to the final of The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Men’s image Awards, we were one of only 10 salons in the whole of Ireland made it through. We were also the only salon in the South East to get through to 2019 men’s image awards final. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and 2023 We got through to L’oreal Colour Trophy this is Ireland’s most prestigious hairdressing competing this year. To compete in this competitions you must first submit a photographic entry this is where our creativeness can fully come alive we look for our inspiration for the look, our clothes, make up etc and put the full look together we then have a photo shoot usually in the salon at the start of every year to photograph our looks and submit to various competitions. We are constantly on the look out for our next model, we take inspiration from all sorts of places in every day life it could be the colour of the leafs in nature that we would like to translate into hair colour, we could be inspired By the shape of a building or even just a normal person walking down the street with a cool look. We out together mood boards in our spare time at the salon we got through magazine such as vogue or Tatler to see what’s coming up. It’s sometimes hard to stay motivated but entering the competitions and pushing ourselves to do better helps us to stay motivated. I honesty can’t put into words what winning this award would mean to me it would really boost my young business and it would really mean the world to me and the staff at Saints to win. Why we should Win	Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our supporting evidence. We are over the moon to be nominated in the salon team of the year. Saints In Ferns opened its doors in 2016 nearly 8 years ago when I was just 23 years old. Having such a good team at Saints personally helped me when my long term relationship broke up 6 years it ago the team carried me when I was at my lowest. I buried myself in work and worked so hard to grow the business. Then on a happier not I met John and because I had such a good team around me I was able to have my first baby Jack without the hard work and dedication of the staff it wouldn’t have been possible. In October 2022 when my second baby Martin was only 4 months old I got the keys to our new second location in Tramore in Waterford because of the girls being such good team players I was able to open the doors to our second salon in February and add Niamh and Sarah to the team. Unfortunately in March we lost the salon manager of Ferns as Casey decided to move to Australia. It was a big blow all the girls pulled together and worked extra hard to cover her clients. There is a big problem with trying to get new staff and new people to Join the salon team at the moment it’s impossible. This year my younger sister Ailish joined the saints team and is now training to be a hair stylist in Ferns we also have Aoife a qualified stylist there and then I go between both salons. Sarah a qualified stylist and Niamh a trainee are based in tramore but they also travel between salons. As a team we regularly do courses and training together. Education is so important to us. Sharing a knowledge and mistakes are key. All the experience stylists train the younger stylists up. We do our photo shoots and competitions as a team there are no egos everyone is a friend. Our clients are the most important part of the success of the salon. They are as much as the team as the stylist. I truly believe the relationship with our clients is the most import aspect of our salon. We try and go above and beyond to please our clients. Our clients are more like our friends. We don’t see doing there hair as a job we see having fun and conversation, keeping up to date with their families and careers more important. People don’t go to a salon for a good cut and colour. They go for the atmosphere and experience and we try and make every clients experience the best. I’m also lucky enough that my twin sister has her beauty salon above the hair salon so although she’s not working in saints she still very much part of the team. Why we should Win	I believe I should win because I have been able to build back up my business and my previous clients returned to me after I closed briefly for 1 year from April 2022-May 2023. I'll tell you the shortened version, I opened in 2019 and I proceeded to build a lash academy once I got qualified as a teacher trainer where I trained many students in beginners and volume lash extensions. I decided to close in April 2022 to move to Bali for a month and then Canada long term. Sold the salon to my friend Katelyn from KC Lashes who was my former employee before I asked her if she would want to open her own business which she has done and is doing an amazing job at! I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly in May 2023 and returned to Ireland after cancelling my one way ticket to Canada and after I finished my maternity leave in May 2023 I re-opened my business where I work 2-3 days a week doing lashes, semi-permanent makeup, brows and areola tattoos and then I mind my son the other 4-5 days because I was very late in applying for creche. I regained my clientele after a year of closing and I am busier than ever. I've been doing lashes since 2017 and I've loved it every day since. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon but I think my story does show that when you think you can't re-open a business after closing and when you feel it will be so difficult raising a new soul in the world that you absolutely can. Why we should Win	In October 2020 during lockdown, I completed an online course for individual eyelash extensions. A week later, I completed another training course in person for individual eyelash extensions. I was determined to have a new career and I knew this was the start of something for me. I continued to gain knowledge and improve my skills during lockdown for my clientele. In December 2020, I began working as an Eyelash Artist in a salon in wexford. In January 2021 during lockdown, I began training for volume eyelash extensions. I trained every single day to make my own volume fans and to ensure I can do them to the highest standard. I got pregnant in April 2021, and throughout my whole pregnancy, I still did not lose my drive and determination to be successful in my new career path. In March 2021, I trained at Gorey Institute of beauty for Lash Lifts. I wanted to do more as a lash artist than just eyelash extensions and I love how natural lash lifts are for people who don’t like eyelash extension. I wanted to upgrade my skills in volume lashes, so I went to train with glamour lashes in Maynooth with their award-winning trainer Jana Adamcová in September 2021. I continued to work for a salon during this time until I left for maternity leave in November 2021. I am incredibly passionate about my career, so I opened my own salon in May 2022 after my maternity leave! I am so proud of how much I have achieved in such a short space of time after having my first born in December 2021. I have excellent customer service skills and fantastic relationships with my clients to make sure they feel as comfortable and as happy as possible whenever they come to my salon. I feel that having great communication and strong relationships is key to having long term clients. With my knowledge and experience in the lash and beauty world, I educate my audience on my social media with tips and tricks on how to keep your lashes in top condition as it's important to me that all my clients are getting the most from their treatments even after they leave the salon! I have over 140 5-out of-5 star ratings in regards to the service I offer. I am proud of how my company has progressed and continues to progress each day. This is where my career, little did I know. My mother Ann Marie, also a beauty therapist, of 30 years introduced me to life in the industry. Getting through school was not an easy journey for me as I struggled with the basics.A diagnosis of dyslexia and dyspraxia at the age of 15 didn't stop me from achieving what and where I wanted to be. I proved this to myself when I attended WCFE to train as a beauty therapist, achieving top marks in both practical and theory. May 2018, I was awarded CIDESCO student of the year. I then continued on my journey to a 5 star salon, located outside New Ross. I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that gave me the confidence to execute one of my biggest goals, to become self employed at 21. With the help of my family and friends, we got the ball rolling and made "The Beauty Rooms by Carol Cummins" located on 10 North Street, New Ross become a reality, working along-side some of the most talented nail technicians, barbers and hairdressers that the industry has ever seen. Recently I had a little baby boy Joey which meant I had to take some time out to focus on family life which I have and I am doing at the moment but I didn’t forget about work, I’m 8 weeks postpartum and I have been back working the last two weeks. My first day back to work consisted of a client who was getting married and others graduating from school. They assured me since I first found out I was pregnant that they would never leave my side which they didn’t and it really meant the world to me as stated above I’m located in new ross I have had clients due to recommendations travel from Wicklow Dublin and Kilkenny. I feel this proves the quality and standard of my work that people travelling to avail of my services. I have recently gained a high influence client with a following on social media of 77.8k follower has featured in many national newspaper articles and magazines she approached me in may of this year and complimented my work I was blown away that my account had even reached her attention. This was a big moment for me and my business. I got my start with a small business loan, working 60 hours weekly to accommodate the clients, I never thought I would be that busy. But that was just the start. Covid hit and things changed drastically for us all, but I took this time to carve out a niche market for my clients and this market was all things brows. I studied in depth about different skins types, textures, skin PH and how different skin types and hair reacted with the products and ingredients that I was using. I wanted to obtain the best results. I struggled for seven months to achieve the results I wanted until I discovered a new Irish brand that has taken over many salons around the country. Sinead is an Irish entrepreneur and has the most amazing ideas, similar to mine. She has created Ireland's first ever hybrid tint, a big move for Irish beauty gurus. I worked with this product and instantly fell in love. The results I had attained were incredible and very durable until my clients returned. I loved this product, my clients loved it so it was a match made. Upon return to work after Christmas, celebrity brow artist Kelley Baker Brow's invited me to train with her personally, in her new studio, in Beverly Hills. Some of Kelley's more notable clients include Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. Later that week Sinead approached me to become Brand Ambassador of her company. She knew the passion I had for her products and more importantly for brows. I was honoured as I know this product is going to be a must have in every salon within the next five years. Time progressed and I am now an educator for the company, specialising in educating others on brows and lashes, another goal I had achieved. Last year I was nominated for this award and I was honoured to be nominated again, I hope to take the award home again this year . My goals for this coming year consist of getting a new location for a salon and returning to education and branch out into the teaching with the highest standard and recognised organisations within the beauty industry. I also can see my self travelling over seas to obtain the skills for other artists with massive following experience and talent. Semi permanent make up is growing rapidly and I feel this is where I could crave out a niche market especially to accommodate the clients in which I have. Why we should Win	In October 2020 during lockdown, I completed an online course for individual eyelash extensions. A week later, I completed another training course in person for individual eyelash extensions. I was determined to have a new career and I knew this was the start of something for me. I got pregnant in April 2021, and throughout my whole pregnancy, I still did not lose my drive and determination to be successful in my new career path. In March 2021, I trained at Gorey Institute of beauty for Lash Lifts. I wanted to do more as a lash artist than just eyelash extensions and I love how natural lash lifts are for people who don’t like eyelash extension. I wanted to upgrade my skills in volume lashes, so I went to train with glamour lashes in Maynooth with their award-winning trainer Jana Adamcová in September 2021. I continued to work for a salon during this time until I left for maternity leave in November 2021. I am incredibly passionate about my career, so I opened my own salon in May 2022 after my maternity leave! I am so proud of how much I have achieved in such a short space of time after having my first born in December 2021 I trained threading eyebrows and tinting in 2018 when I done a beauty therapy course in Enniscorthy vocational college. When I started doing eyelash extension I wanted to up-skill my eyebrow hair removal techniques so I then trained at Gorey Institute of beauty in August 2021 for another brow threading course. I was happy with just basic threading and tinting until 2023, Once I happy with how my eyelash extensions treatments were looking and lasting I wanted to go more into brow treatments to offer more to my clients. I trained with Tiger Training Academy doing a Hybrid tint and brow waxing course in May 2023, I also done a brow lamination course in the same month. I started doing a more brow treatments in July straight away and I was blessed to get amazing feedback instantly. I did not just bring more treatments to my salon but more clientele week by week. I have excellent customer service skills and fantastic relationships with my clients to make sure they feel as comfortable and as happy as possible whenever they come to my salon. I feel that having great communication and strong relationships is key to having long term clients. With my knowledge and experience in the lash and beauty world, I educate my audience on my social media with tips and tricks on how to keep your lashes in top condition as it's important to me that all my clients are getting the most from their treatments even after they leave the salon! I have over 140 5-out of-5 star ratings in regards to the service I offer. I am proud of how my company has progressed and continues to progress each day. Whether it's chatting about their office drama , filling me in on important milestones in their life or a silent appointment. I quite literally hold their hand through all of life’s experiences offering a kind face and open ears. I always believe there is room for improvement. I try to attend 2-3 courses a year to Upskill and soak up as much knowledge as possible. This industry is forever growing and changing and it’s important to keep up with both the knowledge and practical skills. Lastly hygiene. Hygiene is something that is easily overlooked in the nail industry. I use fresh tools for every service and disposable items where necessary. Making sure my working area is thoroughly disinfected between clients to prevent any micropathogens from causing unwanted infections for both my client and myself. Why we should Win	My career as a nail technician began in 2017, I had just finished two years of beauty therapy in Waterford Collage of Further Education and began working as a nail technician in The Nail Boutique in Wexford Town. As my client base began to grow and my career started to take off I began to take over new roles in the salon such as social media editor. I then became assistant manager and started to prepare for my role as manager but unfortunately while this was going on the news and uncertainty of Covid-19 had began to spread and in April of 2019 the owners of the salon decided to close permanently. It was in the weeks after that I decided that once we were out of lock down I would open my own business and started to prepare. In June 2019 I opened up Lauren Usher Nail Technician upstairs in Denises Hair Studio. This is where my business venture began I was very lucky to be busy from the day I opened my doors as all of my previous clients stuck by me and followed me on my new adventure. I began this business with the uncertainty of covid 19 and two more lock downs to follow after opening but my regular client base kept me going knowing that they would return after each lock down and would stick with me was the best feeling I am grateful to each and everyone of them. In August 2022 I got an opportunity to become a part of an amazing beauty team at Lash Envy Wexford, in the last year I feel I have accomplished more than ever as this team has driven me to be the best nail technician I could be, with also completing a train the trainer course in August to soon be able teach others the skill that I love so much. Why we should Win	It’s such an honour to be nominated for best educator. Educating is something I feel so passionate about. Once I got experience and confidence in my field I really wanted to get into teaching. What fuelled my passion for this was my own journey as a nail tech. The beauty industry and in particular the nail industry can be very gate kept ,making it difficult to get past the basics in the industry both practically and theoretically. The industry has seen so many changes and challenges most recently being an allergy epidemic since covid. I won’t bore you through the details of it but had I not done extensive research and been an educator there’s so much else to keep up with that you are simply unaware of. My goal as an educator is to really make sure my students can see any nail ailment and be able to identify and advise confidently. This is what sets me apart. I provide so much more than the basics of nail theory that most people are ticking a box once delivered. During any course it’s unlikely you will come across anything more than bitten nails. Which is why it’s so important to share as much knowledge as I can so they will all know how to approach situations if they ever come across them in the future. I always let my students know they can message me any time to help consult or figure out solutions or be a sounding board for them. After course support is just as important in my opinion as they won’t take way 100% of the knowledge they have heard in class as it can be intense. This is not something everyone offers. It goes without say I ensure the practical side is up to par before the completion of the course. Most students will need more 1-1 attention in different aspects and I ensure they all have the confidence in each aspect and let them know where to focus on for their next case study. Being able to break things down so it’s easy in the form of demos and diagrams makes things easier to digest. Im currently rewriting all my manuals to make them easier to digest and more space for note taking. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the Mythen beauty academy

Noel has approximately 35 years’ experience in the barber trade and trained in his role in the traditional sense as an apprentice serving his time until qualified. Because of this old school training it was always a dream or vision perhaps to open an old school barbershop providing a professional quality of barbering in a relaxed comfortable surrounding hence The Cutthroat Club. The reasoning behind the name “The Cutthroat Club” is very simple – It arises from the vision mentioned above. An old school barber shop is very much a social club somewhere where you come to hang out, have the chats and some much-needed relief from day to day stresses. As the shop progressed in the past nine years the barbers and clients became friends and family and supported not just each other but we became very heavily involved in local and national charities and an avid supporter of local talent. We also because of this partnered with music promoters MCD, festival republic and lantern presents to provide dressing room production services backstage at all the major Irish music festivals . The barber shop has grown year on year , most recently with the addition of a fourth barber mainly due to the continued support of our clients, friends and families - one of our reasons for being heavily involved in local and national events is “ a pay it forward attitude “ and giving back to the community both locally, nationally and even internationally. Why we should Win	I trained as a makeup artist just two weeks after completing my leaving certificate in 2016. I then continued to upskill and was offered a job in Eyrebrushed Clinic after completing a makeup course with them. I worked there as a makeup artist and beauty therapist for 4 years. I later added on new treatments such as brows, gel polish, lash lift, spray tanning, lash extensions and threading. I finally took the leap and opened my own beauty room in 2021 day before my daughter turned one. I have worked so hard - late nights, 12/13 hour days, weekends and week days, leaving to go to work to accommodate clients when my partner comes home in the evenings. I began with no clientele in New Ross where I opened my beauty room, as I had worked in Kilkenny city for 4 years previously. Regular clients followed me from Kilkenny city all the way to new ross to show their support and stuck by me as a therapist. I have now built a full clientele and I am at full capacity for clients for some treatments. I am so proud to see my hard work pay off. Last year I was nominated for ‘Best beauty newcomer’ in the Brian Cunningham Hair, Beauty and style awards. I was so shocked and proud when I received not one - but two nominations this year, Best beauty therapist and best Brow artist. Why we should Win	To whom it may concern, My name is Carol Cummins, I'm 26 years old and I've had a passion for all things beauty since the young age of six. This is where my career, little did I know. My mother Ann Marie, also a beauty therapist, of 30 years introduced me to life in the industry. Waxing, tinting and painting nails on my grandmother, still today she sits down, at 84 years old for her monthly beauty check-in. Getting through school was not an easy journey for me as I struggled with the basics.A diagnosis of dyslexia and dyspraxia at the age of 15 didn't stop me from achieving what and where I wanted to be. I proved this to myself when I attended WCFE to train as a beauty therapist, achieving top marks in both practical and theory. May 2018, I was awarded CIDESCO student of the year. I then continued on my journey to a 5 star salon, located outside New Ross. I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that gave me the confidence to execute one of my biggest goals, to become self employed at 21. With the help of my family and friends, we got the ball rolling and made "The Beauty Rooms by Carol Cummins" located on 10 North Street, New Ross become a reality, working along-side some of the most talented nail technicians, barbers and hairdressers that the industry has ever seen. Recently I had a little baby boy Joey which meant I had to take some time out to focus on family life which I have and I am doing at the moment but I didn’t forget about work, I’m 8 weeks postpartum and I have been back working the last two weeks. Been self employed I feel like the grind never stops. I have extremely loyal clients and I really do value their custom. My first day back to work consisted of a client who was getting married and others graduating from school. They assured me since I first found out I was pregnant that they would never leave my side which they didn’t and it really meant the world to me as stated above I’m located in new ross I have had clients due to recommendations travel from Wicklow Dublin and Kilkenny. I feel this proves the quality and standard of my work that people travelling to avail of my services. I have recently gained a high influence client with a following on social media of 77.8k follower has featured in many national newspaper articles and magazines she approached me in may of this year and complimented my work I was blown away that my account had even reached her attention. This was a big moment for me and my business. I got my start with a small business loan, working 60 hours weekly to accommodate the clients, I never thought I would be that busy. But that was just the start. Covid hit and things changed drastically for us all, but I took this time to carve out a niche market for my clients and this market was all things brows. I studied in depth about different skins types, textures, skin PH and how different skin types and hair reacted with the products and ingredients that I was using. I wanted to obtain the best results. I struggled for seven months to achieve the results I wanted until I discovered a new Irish brand that has taken over many salons around the country. Sinead is an Irish entrepreneur and has the most amazing ideas, similar to mine. She has created Ireland's first ever hybrid tint, a big move for Irish beauty gurus. I worked with this product and instantly fell in love. The results I had attained were incredible and very durable until my clients returned. I loved this product, my clients loved it so it was a match made. Upon return to work after Christmas, celebrity brow artist Kelley Baker Brow's invited me to train with her personally, in her new studio, in Beverly Hills. Some of Kelley's more notable clients include Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. Later that week Sinead approached me to become Brand Ambassador of her company. She knew the passion I had for her products and more importantly for brows. I was honoured as I know this product is going to be a must have in every salon within the next five years. Time progressed and I am now an educator for the company, specialising in educating others on brows and lashes, another goal I had achieved. Last year I was nominated for this award and I was honoured to be nominated again, I hope to take the award home again this year . My goals for this coming year consist of getting a new location for a salon and returning to education and branch out into the teaching with the highest standard and recognised organisations within the beauty industry. I also can see my self travelling over seas to obtain the skills for other artists with massive following experience and talent. Semi permanent make up is growing rapidly and I feel this is where I could crave out a niche market especially to accommodate the clients in which I have. Here are some reasons why i might deserve this honor: I teach primarily makeup courses and have an extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of beauty. with nearly a decade of experience, certifications, and continuous learning I consider myself a subject matter expert. not only do I teach the skill of applying makeup but also how to conduct yourself as a makeup artist which sometimes can be more important than the skill itself. I prioritize conveying the professionalism and welcoming atmosphere an artist must create with clients. This is something I feel sets my students aside from others so they are unphased when taking their first client. I use the phrase "treat each client the way you would like your loved one to be treated during an appointment." Another approach I have to teaching is to teach how I would like my loved one to be taught. From earning my dipolma in adult educator, I know there are various types of learning styles and it is crucial to cater to all. So I provide written step by steps, demos and videos and links for all my students to learn the techniques I am teaching. I also maintain a supportive professional relationship with students after they graduate and help them as much as I can with any queries they have. I have a strict "no such thing as a stupid question" policy as when I was a learner these questions cleared up so much confusion for me. My goal as an educator is to really make sure my students can see any nail ailment and be able to identify and advise confidently. This is what sets me apart. I provide so much more than the basics of nail theory that most people are ticking a box once delivered. During any course it’s unlikely you will come across anything more than bitten nails. Which is why it’s so important to share as much knowledge as I can so they will all know how to approach situations if they ever come across them in the future. I always let my students know they can message me any time to help consult or figure out solutions or be a sounding board for them. After course support is just as important in my opinion as they won’t take way 100% of the knowledge they have heard in class as it can be intense. This is not something everyone offers. It goes without say I ensure the practical side is up to par before the completion of the course. Most students will need more 1-1 attention in different aspects and I ensure they all have the confidence in each aspect and let them know where to focus on for their next case study. Being able to break things down so it’s easy in the form of demos and diagrams makes things easier to digest. Im currently rewriting all my manuals to make them easier to digest and more space for note taking. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the Mythen beauty academy

Why we should Win	I am incredibly honoured to be nominated for such a prestigious award in such a saturated industry especially in the south east as there are so many incredible MUAS. I believe I am a candidate for such as an awards for a few reasons. My business is built around client satisfaction. I always carry out an in depth consultation with each client to make sure they are completely comfortable and at ease during the appointment. My clients have frequently said their sessions were like counselling seasons and have felt much better after spending the hour with me. My motto is "treat your client how you would want your loved one to be treated' and I believe this has led to my many return clients over the years.
